Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and skilled Sports Medicine Massage Therapist to join our Sports and Athletics department. The Massage Therapist will provide specialized therapeutic massage treatments to athletes and sports team members to aid in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. The successful candidate will possess excellent knowledge of sports-related injuries and treatments, as well as exceptional massage therapy techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of athletes' physical conditions and specific injuries to determine appropriate massage therapy treatments.
- Develop and implement individualized massage therapy plans to address athletes' needs and goals.
- Administer various massage techniques, including deep tissue, sports, Swedish, and trigger point therapy, to alleviate pain, improve circulation, and enhance muscle flexibility and recovery.
- Apply appropriate massage therapy modalities to treat specific sports-related injuries, such as sprains, strains, muscle spasms, and overuse injuries.
- Collaborate with the sports medicine team to ensure comprehensive and integrated treatment plans for athletes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all treatments, assessments, and progress notes for each athlete.
- Educate athletes on self-care techniques, stretching exercises, and injury prevention strategies.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in sports medicine massage therapy techniques and incorporate new methods into practice as appropriate.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid certification or license as a Massage Therapist (state/country-specific).
- Minimum of [X] years of experience working as a Massage Therapist in a sports medicine or athletic setting.
- In-depth knowledge of sports-related injuries, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficient in a wide range of massage therapy techniques, including deep tissue, sports, Swedish, and trigger point therapy.
- Strong understanding of the principles of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and sports performance enhancement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with athletes, coaches, and the sports medicine team.
- Ability to adapt massage therapy techniques to meet the specific needs of each athlete.
- High level of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple athletes and treatment plans simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate athletes' schedules and competition/training demands.
